About The Position

Focus Factory Training (D794) is seeking an organized, self-motivated Pipe Welding Instructor for long-term travel to support strategic sourcing initiatives at various Focus Factory locations. This role reports to the Chief of Training for Strategic Sourcing and the applicable on-site Chief of Training when traveling. Instructors will be assigned to Business Travel and/or Extended Work Assignments at locations such as Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Florence, South Carolina; Jacksonville, FL; Mobile, Alabama, and others as assigned. The instructor will be part of a team responsible for training supplier staff in various structural welding processes, wire types, and other welding-related courses. Qualified candidates must have a strong commitment to Safety and Procedural Compliance, be self-starters with strong verbal and written communication skills, and be driven to develop themselves and others. The ability to multitask with a friendly, approachable customer service demeanor is also essential.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 4+ years of welding trade experience
  • 2+ years of work experience at Electric Boat
  • Instructing/teaching experience (formal or informal)
  • Leadership experience (working leader, MDU, SS …ETC)
  • Ability to work additional overtime as directed (including weekends)
  • Ability to support business travel approximately 75+% annually
  • Have a strong ability to prioritize & complete multiple complex assignments
  • Have business travel/EWA experience
  • Have a strong ability to direct in a classroom and workshop environment
  • Have excellent written, verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal skills
  • Have demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Be comfortable working in a fast-paced dynamic work environment
  • Have a strong willingness to think critically and problem solve
  • Have the ability to engage with supplier employees in a professional manner
  • Be comfortable with new teaching technologies and willing to adapt to new teaching approaches

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced educational course work including certifications, Associates, or other advanced education degrees
  • Proficient in 3 or more welding processes
  • Experience with non-destructive testing, AWPSS & SRT
  • Experience with various business systems i.e. SRT/LMS, PQS, ATA
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Excel, Word and OneNote
  • Proficiency virtual and/or remote technologies

Responsibilities

  • Instructing multiple welding related classroom courses including Workmanship, AWPSS and Safety Briefs
  • Instructing multiple structural related classroom courses
  • Provide quality oversight of supplier embedded instructors to support site training needs
  • Directing and assessing hands on training with practice and tests
  • Enforcing safety rules and regulations in training and during deck plate audits
  • Assessing student performance & identifying non-conformance to policies, procedures and technical documents
  • Supporting various course content reviews and related activities
  • Conducting assessments as needed/scheduled
  • Manage class rosters and training OQE submittal paperwork
  • Meeting with Focus Factory Leadership regarding student performance as needed
  • Consistently grade tests and quizzes to ensure knowledge capture and understanding of training topics
  • Communicate with other team members to advance work & communicate issues
  • Supporting special training projects as required
  • Support the Training department goals and objectives with other responsibilities as assigned
  • Must complete and maintain NDT requirements for Welding Qualifications
  • Ready to learn and take on additional responsibilities and duties as needed
