About The Position

Spitzer, a recognized industry leader in designing and fabricating high-specification equipment, is currently seeking Pipe Welder to join our team. What Does a Week in the Life of the Pipe Welder Look Like? •    Understand and follow safety policies and procedures of the shop. •    Conforms to shop quality practices and procedures. •    Interprets drawings and specifications to define sequence of spools fabrication. •    Measure and mark pipes for cutting to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and benders. •    Uses MIG & Flux core welding processes to tack. •    Tack Carbon steel components using welding procedures. •    Fit-up ANSI flanges to pipe, forged flanges, elbows, reducers to pipe. •    Checks fit ups using appropriate tools. •    Completing jobs based on standard shop procedures. •    Works productively with others to help determine best solutions. •    Uses overhead cranes, jib cranes and other lifting/rigging devices to move components in a safe manner is a plus. •    Practice good housekeeping skills and properly dispose of waste according to safety and environmental policies. •    Safe practice of use of grinder to clean and prep fittings.  •    Other duties as assigned by the Foreman. Requirements

  • Ability to follow shop procedures, quality procedures and safely practices.
  • Must have verbal skills with fluency for the responsibilities assigned.
  • High School Diploma or its equivalent, and/or Trade School.
  • Requires more than 4 years of pipe fitting experience and/or demonstrated ability to perform basic skills according to testing requirements.
  • Proficient in basic math including addition/subtraction of whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
  • Proficient in reading a tape measure/ ruler in increments of 1/16” or smaller and analog /digital level.
  • Ability to calculate degrees and circumference using basic algebra and geometry.

Nice To Haves

  • Uses overhead cranes, jib cranes and other lifting/rigging devices to move components in a safe manner is a plus.
