About The Position
Pipe Welders work in Turner Industries’ pipe fabrication shop in Port Allen, Louisiana, under the direction of a foreman. The role involves interpreting weld maps and weld procedures, identifying material types, and welding pipe spools. Applicants must be able to weld using TIG and Stick, as well as TIG and Fluxcore, and pass the required welding tests.
Requirements
- Ability to weld TIG/Stick and TIG/Fluxcore and pass the required welding tests.
- Familiarity with weld maps, weld procedures, weld process numbers, filler metal selection guides, preheat requirements, welding symbols, material color codes, and weld wire color codes.
- One to four years of experience in the specified skill is preferred.
- Pass applicable pre-employment qualification and welding tests.
- Complete a post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation.
- Complete Hazard Communication orientation and test, Turner Industries Group indoctrination, and job-site orientation.
- Wear OSHA-approved corrective eyewear (Z87) and meet job-site PPE requirements, including hearing protection, safety glasses, a long-sleeve shirt, gloves, and steel-toe boots.
- Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of themselves or others in the workplace.

- One to four years of experience in the specified skill.
Responsibilities
- Read and sign off on the JSA before starting the shift.
- Pass required welding tests in a 6G position, including GTAW, GTAW/SMAW, GTAW/FCAW, and GMAW.
- Use weld maps, weld procedures, process numbers, filler metal selection guidance, preheat requirements, welding symbols, material color codes, and weld wire color codes.
- Grind tacks with pneumatic grinders.
- Remain aware of surroundings.
- Assist with setting up and taking down pipe spools.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
