About The Position

Turner Industries is a fully diversified industrial contractor that provides responsive, innovative solutions to increase plant production, reduce costs, and prevent shutdowns in the petrochemical, refining, energy, pulp and paper, and related industries. We are seeking a Pipe Welder for a position in Kingsport, TN. The Welder position lays out, fits, and welds fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble structural forms, such as tanks, pressure vessels, furnace shells, pipe and building and bridge parts. This is a non-exempt role that reports to the Foreman, with assigned duties according to specific procedures and frequent checking of work.

Requirements

High school or equivalent
Minimum four (4) years of experience in specified skill
Must be able to pass a weld test before being hired
Must be certified as a welder
Post offer drug / alcohol screen, physical evaluation, and signed acceptance of the Turner Industries Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy

Responsibilities

Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding.
Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together.
Bolts, clamps, and tacks parts to secure in position for welding.
Sets up equipment and welds parts.
May assemble parts by bolting and riveting.
May weld pipe such as carbon steel, stainless steel, chrome, etc. by process of arc, heliarc, gas, tig, etc.
May weld pipe, sheet metal, structural steel, brackets, or other materials.
May repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.
May use cutting torch to cut materials and demo existing assemblies.
Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
Comply with company and client job site safety requirements.
