We support complex industrial construction and maintenance projects across the United States. We are currently seeking skilled First-Class Welders for multiple project sites nationwide. Position Overview The First-Class Welder is responsible for performing high-quality welding on a variety of materials and assemblies while meeting strict engineering specifications and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret-level security clearance.
  • Demonstrated experience performing the welding processes listed above.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • At least five years of pipe welding experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in an industrial or shipyard setting.
  • Must pass the welding test on the specific procedures and welding code that is to be performed on the project.
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of the pipe welder craft and various welding codes and specifications.
  • Ability to understand and follow directions.
  • Successful candidate must possess the willingness and ability to complete and pass all pre-employment and employment screening requirements which may include but are not limited to: Practical skills, COVID-19, other medical, psychological (if required by site), background and substance abuse screening(s).
  • GTAW welding of 1' Inconel butt weld with MIL-82H consumable insert ring and MIL-RN82H filler wire.
  • GTAW welding of 1' carbon steel butt weld with MIL-MS-2 consumable insert ring and ER70S-3 filler wire.
  • GTAW welding of 2 - ?' CRES socket welds (4F/5F positions) with MIL-RN82H Inconel filler wire.
  • GTAW welding of 2 - ?' carbon steel socket welds (4F/5F positions) with ER70S-3 filler wire.
  • All tests are restricted in accordance with NAVSEA Technical Publication S9074-AQ-GIB-010/248 Figure 21.
  • Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand, Kneel, Bend, Stoop, move in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven areas, see and hear naturally or with correction.
  • Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with requirements of the job duties.
  • Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls according to a set procedure.
  • Requires repetitive movement.
  • Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
  • Work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.
  • Must be able to weld with a mirror.
  • Knowledge of operation of welding equipment electrodes, fluxes and shielded gases and welding processes.
  • Knowledge of carbon steel, stainless steel, copper nickel, nickel copper, Inconel and other alloy metals.
  • Understand, support, and follow lockout tag out procedures.
  • Attend site specific training and assure you follow all procedures as out lined in training.
  • Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Use effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers and fractions rapidly and accurately.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in submarine piping is a plus.
  • Experience with EB ring consumable inserts highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality welding on a variety of materials and assemblies while meeting strict engineering specifications and safety standards.
  • Perform 100% x-ray quality welds on chromes/stainless/Inconel/carbon/ nickel copper/copper nickel using GTAW process.
  • Work in other crafts at levels appropriate to training and skills as requested by project supervision.
  • Assist with joint fit up and final weld joint alignment to include some rigging and lifting if necessary.
  • Perform welding processes on pipe; manual; standard bevel.
  • Plan, lay-out, weld, install, and repair all types of pipe and similar tubular products in accordance with applicable plans, specifications, welding codes and industry standards utilizing a variety of hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment.
  • Use appropriate hand (i.e. wrap around, files) and power tools (i.e. cutting torch) to properly measure, cut, assemble, weld and install all types of structural steel components; install supports, valves and other control equipment; test installed systems and install all other related items in accordance with the applicable plans and specifications; must be familiar with properties of metal machining, weld shrinkage and welding techniques; bolts, clamps or other welding related equipment; weld components according to specific process and code; and install all other items in accordance with the applicable plans and specifications.
  • Weld components in flat, vertical, horizontal, or overhead positions.
  • Clamp hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.
  • Set up machine including safely running lines and be able to adjust gas flow and pressure so that desired flames are obtained.
  • Weld components according to specific process and code.
  • Test installed systems and install all other related items in accordance with the applicable plans and specifications.
  • Produce quality work, meeting requirements of plans, specifications, and industry standards.
  • Read and understand plans and specifications, including diagrams, prints, orthographic and isometric drawings and visualize two dimensional drawings in three dimensions.
  • Comply with Company Code of Conduct and jobsite policies.
  • Perform all other job-related duties as requested by supervisor.
