About The Position
This position is located On-site at our Bayou La Batre, AL shipyard. Our Pipe Welders are an integral piece of our work on a daily basis. Some of your daily functions will include: Weld copper-nickel alloys. TIG weld in all positions. Work in tight areas and perform field welding as required. Notice improper fit up of pipe joints prior to welding. Mirror weld. Recognize different pipe alloys and rods required. Know and understand proper root openings required on butt weld systems and set back requirements for socket weld systems. Understand and utilize purging requirements. Understand weld sizes and types (Convex & Concave).
Requirements
- 3 years’ experience as a Pipe Welder
- High School Diploma or a GED
- Pass a 6G SMAW welding test with 90 days of employment.
- Fundamental knowledge in marine or a manufacturing industry
