We are GAF. And under this roof, we protect what matters most. Job Summary The Pipe Operator creates high-quality commercial roofing accessory products at the Burgaw Plant. The Pipe Operator partners with other machine operators, lead and supervisor to establish and maintain an environment where safety, quality, service and cost are the highest priorities.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required
  • 3+ months prior manufacturing experience in a fast paced environment.
  • The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
  • Ability to clearly communicate across diverse teams.
  • Previous forklift experience is strongly desired along with the ability to obtain a forklift license at the plant.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for setup and troubleshooting complex pipe machines.
  • Ensures that the work area has been set up to provide optimum safe work area and work flow.
  • Monitors quality of materials supplied and parts produced & recommends corrections as necessary.
  • Keeps track of production on daily schedule control sheets and other production reports.
  • Tracks downtime of equipment and production.
  • Responsible for keeping supervisor informed of production problems, which could be material, machine or personnel related.
  • Responsible for conformance of production with plant standards of safety, quality, production and efficiency.
  • Inspects equipment for operating efficiency.
  • Cleans, performs basic maintenance, and makes minor repairs or specified operating adjustments to equipment.
  • Cleans and maintains work areas in accordance with plant standards.
