About The Position

The Pipe Designer/Drafter develops and updates P&IDs for brownfield and greenfield process units, using redline markups, process flow diagrams, plot plans, equipment layouts, and field observations. The role includes piping and mechanical design in chemical and oil and gas industries, applying relevant P&ID and process piping standards. Field work may include walking existing plants, sketching, taking measurements, and verifying physical plant elements, then incorporating collected information into 3D models and piping isometrics. The role works with a multidisciplinary project team to develop and update project P&IDs. The manager is seeking candidates with mid-level to senior experience.

Requirements

• Mid-level to senior experience.
• Experience with 3D modeling software for piping and mechanical design in brownfield and greenfield process units.
• Knowledge of P&ID industry standards, including PIP and DIN.
• Knowledge of process piping design standards, including ASME B31.3.
• Strong communication skills within a multidisciplinary project team.
• Experience and background in piping or mechanical design in the chemical or oil and gas industries.
• Ability to perform field work, including field sketches, measurements, and verification.
• Experience using 3D laser scans for piping design in brownfield process plants.

Responsibilities

• Draft and update P&IDs based on redline markups.
• Use 3D modeling software to execute piping and mechanical design for brownfield and greenfield process units.
• Use process flow diagrams to further develop P&IDs and plant layouts.
• Field-walk existing brownfield process units to verify P&IDs.
• Develop P&IDs from plot plans and equipment layouts, including field sketches based on physical plant elements such as pipelines, valves, instruments, equipment, and inline components.
• Perform field sketches, measurements, and verification, and incorporate the data into 3D models and piping isometrics.
• Use 3D laser scans for piping design in brownfield process plants.
• Communicate and coordinate with a multidisciplinary project team to develop and update project P&IDs.
