About The Position

We specialize in mass excavation, building pads, sub-grade prep, final grading, and underground utilities installation (water main, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, fire line, and detention systems). This role assists pipe layers and operators to support efficient installation of underground utilities, ensuring proper pipe placement and maintaining a clean and organized worksite while following all safety protocols.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent is preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in excavation, underground utilities installation, or relevant, is preferred.
  • Knowledge of pipe laying techniques, trench safety, and grading.
  • Knowledge of basic tools and equipment used in excavation work.
  • Ability to read site plans, grades and elevations.
  • Willingness to perform physically demanding work in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to work in trenches and confined spaces.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to follow instructions.

  • Certifications (can be obtained once hired): OSHA 10

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the installation of underground utilities by handling and positioning pipes.
  • Work alongside pipe layer and heavy equipment operations to ensure efficient pipe installation.
  • Use hand signals to communicate with heavy equipment operators.
  • Guide pipe placement and ensure proper grade, alignment and fit.
  • Inspect pipes and materials for quality before and during installation.
  • Prepare trenches by digging, grading and compacting as needed.
  • Help install trench shoring, safety equipment, and follow all safety protocols.
  • Use hand and power tools, such as shovels, rakes, tampers and saws.
  • Load, unload and transport materials around the job site.
  • Assist with pipe alignment, bedding and sealing.
  • Maintain a clean and organized job site.
  • Follow instructions from supervisors and adhere to OSHA and company safety guidelines.
  • Perform general labor and all other duties as assigned to support pipe crew.
