About The Position

The Pioneer Sales Agronomist partners 1:1 with a Pioneer Territory Manager to drive sales growth, customer concentration and retention for the Pioneer seed brand within an assigned territory. The role is jointly accountable to the same sales targets and Pioneer Sales Agencies and plays a critical role in strengthening the grower experience through agronomic leadership, on‑farm engagement and integrated portfolio solutions. This position focuses on converting agronomic insight into commercial outcomes by supporting Pioneer Agents and growers with trusted advice, differentiated offerings and strong execution.

Requirements

  • Five to seven years of agronomy, sales or closely related experience.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively and work in rural environments.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of: Crop production systems and agronomic practices
  • Pioneer products and services and their on‑farm application
  • Agricultural market dynamics and customer decision drivers
  • Demonstrated skills in: Selling, negotiation and influence
  • Coaching and teaching sales teams and growers
  • Resolving conflict and delivering practical solutions
  • Building trusted relationships with growers, agents, partners and teammates
  • Clear communication and cross‑functional collaboration
  • Demonstrated ability to: Support shared sales targets and territory priorities
  • Take initiative, overcome obstacles and deliver results
  • Adapt recommendations based on field conditions and market insights

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Business, Marketing or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support territory sales targets through direct on‑farm sales calls with Pioneer Agents and farmer customers.
  • Coach effective relationship‑building, sales execution and value‑based negotiations in joint calls with Pioneer Agents.
  • Drive grower concentration and retention by helping agents deepen relationships with priority customers.
  • Troubleshoot grower concerns and lead resolution efforts that result in mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Provide strong agronomic leadership grounded in crop production knowledge and sound product placement.
  • Educate and empower the Pioneer agency network to deliver a best‑in‑class grower experience.
  • Lead local agronomy trials and demonstrations that support grower education and sales growth.
  • Develop and execute local agronomy communication plans to reinforce product value and best practices.
  • Partner with supporting functions to align agronomy insights with sales strategy and customer needs.
  • Translate technical and agronomic data into clear, practical recommendations for growers and agents.
  • Anticipate market opportunities and threats and help position the territory to respond effectively.
  • Work in close alignment with the Pioneer Territory Manager to execute territory plans and priorities.
  • Communicate consistently with peers, supporting functions, leaders and external partners to ensure aligned execution.
