About The Position

Global Impact Group LLC is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and ISO 9001 / ISO 17100 certified provider of interpretation and translation services. We provide secure, high-quality language access in 80+ spoken and signed languages for USCIS and other federal agencies. We are seeking Pidgin English Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Pidgin English (commonly spoken in Nigeria, Cameroon, Ghana, and other West African nations) is a critical language variety often required for asylum, refugee, and immigration cases.

Requirements

Native or near-native fluency in Pidgin English (West African variety) and Standard English.
2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, legal, community, NGO, or government strongly preferred).
Familiarity with interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and neutrality standards.
Strong understanding of cultural nuances and regional variations of Pidgin English.
Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 clearance.

Any certifications (community, court, NGO, or professional interpreting credentials preferred).

Responsibilities

Provide real-time Pidgin English ↔ Standard English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and asylum proceedings.
Interpret with accuracy, neutrality, and professionalism in immigration and legal contexts.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to USCIS/DHS interpreter ethics standards.
Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge interpretation requests.
Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and QA audits.
