About The Position
Skyframe is a custom picture framing and fine art production company serving galleries, interior designers, artists, corporate clients, and luxury brands. We are looking for an experienced Picture Framer / Fitter to join our production team at our Hillside, NJ facility. This is a hands-on production position. We are looking for someone who has prior picture framing experience, particularly with fitting, finishing, and safely handling artwork. Skyframe specializes in custom framing, fine art printing, large-format production, delivery, and installation. Our Hillside facility handles projects ranging from individual pieces of artwork to large commercial and retail installations. We are looking for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship and understands that every piece of artwork must be handled with care.
Requirements
- Previous professional picture framing experience required
- Fitting experience strongly required
- Experience safely handling artwork is required
- Knowledge of common picture framing materials and finishing techniques
- Strong attention to detail
- Comfortable working with fragile and valuable artwork
- Ability to use hand tools and framing equipment
- Reliable, organized, and able to work efficiently in a production environment
- Ability to lift and handle larger framed pieces when necessary
Nice To Haves
- Experience with museum-quality, gallery, or high-end custom framing is a plus
Responsibilities
- Fit and finish custom picture framing orders
- Safely handle original artwork, prints, photographs, canvases, and other valuable materials
- Install artwork into frames using proper framing techniques
- Work with glazing, mats, backing, spacers, mounting materials, and hardware
- Inspect frames and artwork for quality before completing orders
- Install hanging hardware and prepare finished pieces for delivery or installation
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe
- Follow work orders and production instructions accurately
- Work with the production team to meet deadlines while maintaining high quality standards
- Identify damage, fitting issues, or production concerns before an order is completed
