About The Position

The Town of Castle Rock is seeking a Pickleball Private Lesson Instructor to join their team. This role is responsible for scheduling lessons, reserving facility courts, and preparing lesson plans that teach proper pickleball techniques, skills, and rules. The instructor will set personalized instruction goals, tailor instruction to individual needs, and organize necessary equipment. Interaction with participants on the courts is expected, and there may be opportunities to market private lesson offerings. The role may also involve performing emergency first aid and life-saving techniques. Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • At least six (6) months experience instructing group or private lessons; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Pickleball Instruction Certification or PPR, IFP, USPTA or one similar.
  • Valid CPR and AED certifications.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, teaching methods and techniques that provide positive motivation; specific pickleball program teaching strategies and the techniques used to meet established skills and abilities.
  • Ability to plan, organize, instruct, and supervise the assigned program.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to the participants when teaching skills.
  • Ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively and to determine proper course of action to be taken.
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision, as necessary; learn and adhere to the facility emergency procedures.
  • Ability to remain current with trends, rules, and regulations of the sport of Pickle Ball.
  • Must be well-spoken, friendly, and possess exceptional customer service skills.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to various time requests and restraints.
  • Physical ability to move around outside or inside on courts for a minimum of 90 minutes.
  • Moderate to heavy physical work to include lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to exert heavy physical effort and frequent performance of activities requiring a full range of body movement including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling/bending, crouching, crawling, and/or twisting.
  • Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate tools and electrical equipment as well as for driving equipment and vehicles.
  • Vision for reading, recording and interpreting information.
  • Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens.
  • Ability to physically access a variety of event sites.
  • Must satisfactorily complete a criminal background prior to commencing employment.

  • May require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment.

Responsibilities

  • Scheduling lessons with clientele and reserving facility courts.
  • Preparing lesson plans that effectively teach proper pickleball techniques, skills, and rules of the game.
  • Setting personalized instruction goals for each individual and tailoring instruction to individual needs.
  • Preparation for program activities; organize relative equipment; may be required to set-up and break-down materials used for instruction.
  • Interacting with participants on the pickleball courts during class.
  • May be responsible for participating in events to market/advertise private lesson opportunities and engage with the public.
  • May be required to perform emergency first aid and life-saving techniques.
  • Performing other duties as assigned or required.
