About The Position

The Pickleball Instructor position supports various facility-operated sporting programs. This role involves assisting with program setup, cleanup, and direct instruction for participants of all ages. The instructor will be responsible for developing practice plans, teaching fundamental sport-specific skills, and actively recruiting new players. Additionally, the role requires adherence to facility policies, clear communication with staff and patrons, and awareness of emergency procedures. This position is not eligible for remote work.

Requirements

  • Prior experience coaching and/or participating in the relevant sport(s) at a high school level or above is strongly preferred
  • Must be able to demonstrate and effectively teach core sports fundamentals and adapt to varying skill levels
  • IPTPA or PPR required for pickleball instruction
  • Ability to communicate effectively while working independently and as a team player
  • Follow all facility rules, policies, and procedures
  • Ability to work flexible hours; evenings and weekends are integral to this position
  • Stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, handle objects and office tools, reach, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

Nice To Haves

  • First aid, CPR, and AED training is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the set-up and clean-up of group classes, grass roots programs, and kids’ camps
  • Guide program participants to appropriate class locations
  • Lead instruction for program participants of all ages in a safe and professional manner
  • Develop and adjust practice plans based on participant skill levels
  • Support the development of fundamental sport-specific skills
  • Actively recruit new players and lesson participants
  • Execute policies and procedures professionally and accurately
  • Communicate clearly with staff and patrons
  • Assist in keeping facility management and parents informed of activities and problems
  • Understand emergency procedures for equipment and evacuation of the building
