About The Position

This role is responsible for expediting the release and flow of product through and between departments, utilizing WMS and ERP systems to support associates and resolve common problems and errors. The Picking Specialist will monitor and release outbound orders, meter and balance workflow, resolve stocking/picking/inventory discrepancy issues, and ensure orders are organized and consolidated accurately and timely. They will also monitor production requirements, plan and release corresponding production orders, and perform cycle counts/stocktakes. This role requires strong communication skills to relay relevant information to internal and external stakeholders. The Picking Specialist will act as a cross-functional subject matter expert within the department, performing each job function with detailed knowledge. They will effectively utilize required equipment such as cranes, forklifts, dock stockers, reach trucks, order pickers, scissor lifts, RF scanners, pick-to-voice systems, WMS terminals, stretch wrappers, pallet scales, utility knives, and banders. Flexibility to support various departments as needed is essential. The role also involves accurately picking customer orders, receiving goods into inventory, maintaining a safe and organized work environment, and adhering to safety policies and procedures. Documenting quality issues, ensuring work areas are stocked, and assisting in process improvement initiatives are also key responsibilities. The Picking Specialist will represent the company professionally and complete other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Previous Leadership Experience REQUIRED
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding with a strong capacity to quickly learn and utilize business software and equipment (i.e. WMS, ERP, Touch Screen computers, RF scanners, Pick-to-voice headsets, conveyors, horizontal stretch wrappers, printers, manual pallet jack, etc.)
  • May require recent experience driving various electric material handling equipment with appropriate certification (i.e. forklift, reach truck, walkie rider)
  • Earned a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrated prior experience in a distribution environment with a general understanding of warehouse operations/procedures
  • Possesses strong communication skills with the capability to fluently read, write and speak the English language
  • Willingness and capability of working in a team-oriented environment focused on delivering a superior internal and external customer experience
  • Willingness and capability to lift up to 80 lbs. occasionally
  • Willingness and capability of performing basic math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) accurately and efficiently
  • Willingness and capability to follow defined work instructions and offer improvements to such while also adhering to company policies/procedures (i.e. OSHA requirements, attendance policy, etc.)
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening process & background screening
  • Willingness and capability to work in an ambient temperature environment
  • Ability to stand and walk for entire duration of shift

Responsibilities

  • Expedites the release and flow of product through and between each department
  • Effectively utilizes the WMS and ERP systems to support associates and resolve common problems and errors made within the respective department
  • Monitor and release outbound orders ensuring proper allocations and ship methods
  • Meter and balance workflow to and between departments
  • Resolve stocking/picking/inventory discrepancy issues
  • Ensure orders are organized and consolidated in an accurate and timely fashion
  • Monitor production requirements and plan, create and release corresponding production orders
  • Cycle Count/Stocktake – count discrepancy, picking error, credit research
  • Communicates relevant and timely information with internal and external stakeholders (carriers, customer service, other departments, etc.)
  • Be the cross functional subject matter expert within department with detailed knowledge of how to functionally perform each job
  • Effectively utilize required equipment to perform various job functions – Crane, Forklift, Dock Stocker, Reach truck, 2 level order picker, Scissor lift, RF scanner, Pick-to-voice system, WMS terminal, stretch wrapper pallet scale, utility knife, bander, etc.
  • Willingness to be flexible and grow in supporting various departments, as needed, throughout the day
  • Accurately pick customer orders according to company established procedures/standards
  • Accurately receive goods into inventory verifying against shipping documentation
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organized work environment at all times
  • Actively support and follow established safety policies and procedures, including reporting safety and security issues to leadership
  • Document any quality issues discovered throughout the workflow process
  • Ensure work areas are stocked with needed supplies
  • Assist in identifying and implementing process improvement opportunities
  • Represent self and Schluter Systems L.P. in a professional and positive manner at all times
  • Complete other duties as assigned
