About The Position

This role is responsible for various material handling tasks within a distribution center, including receiving, storing, picking, packing, and shipping goods. The operator will utilize equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks to ensure efficient and accurate operations. Key aspects of the role involve maintaining inventory accuracy, ensuring quality control, and adhering to strict safety protocols.

Requirements

Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment.
Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS).
Knowledge of inventory management principles.
Ability to perform routine maintenance checks on equipment.
Understanding of safety guidelines and ability to wear PPE.
Physical ability to lift and move materials as needed.
Good communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

Unload incoming shipments from trucks or delivery vehicles.
Verify shipments against purchase orders and delivery paperwork for accuracy.
Transport materials to designated storage areas using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment.
Organize and store materials in an orderly manner to maximize space and accessibility.
Retrieve items from storage locations based on order requests.
Pack items securely to ensure safe transport and prepare them for shipping.
Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
Monitor stock levels and report shortages or overstock to supervisors.
Record material movements in warehouse management systems (WMS).
Maintain accurate logs of incoming and outgoing shipments.
Inspect materials for damage or defects upon receipt and during handling.
Report damaged goods to supervisors for further action.
Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, conveyor belts, and other material-handling equipment.
Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment to ensure functionality.
Assist in preparing materials for shipment by labeling and staging them in loading areas.
Coordinate with shipping teams to ensure accurate and timely dispatch of orders.
Follow safety guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries in the workplace.
Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and report any safety concerns.
Maintain a clean and organized work area by disposing of waste and clearing obstructions.
Assist in keeping aisles, storage racks, and staging areas orderly.
Communicate with warehouse team members to coordinate material handling tasks.
Work closely with supervisors to meet operational goals.
Perform additional tasks as required, such as assisting in loading trucks or supporting other warehouse functions.
