About The Position

The Picking Associate is responsible for maintaining a high level of safety in the workplace, including understanding and reporting potential safety issues, adhering to health and safety guidelines, and promoting a safe working environment. This role involves general housekeeping of the work area, ensuring work is performed in a manner that does not jeopardize the safety of oneself or co-workers, and adhering to department 5S standards. The associate will retrieve chemical compounds from inventory for weighing and packaging, ensuring all compounds are returned and stored appropriately. They will inspect and verify product labeling before assigning storage locations, work safely, and complete regular quality product checks. Prioritization of chemical products based on First-In, First-Out (FIFO) is crucial, along with reporting any loss or missing items and maintaining proper organization of storage areas. Updating the inventory database and communicating potential issues to the team lead or supervisor are also key responsibilities. Additionally, the Picking Associate ensures all new incoming products are properly labeled and stored according to appropriate conditions. A significant part of the role involves accurately weighing chemicals using appropriate containers and following weighing instructions, inspecting and verifying orders and product labeling before final packaging, and re-prioritizing chemical products according to FIFO. The associate will also perform other duties and complete additional projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • College diploma
  • Good planning & organizing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Previously worked with a balance with good knowledge of measuring units
  • Good command of the English language
  • Excellent team player
  • Self-starter, task oriented with ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Independently solves problems within his/her scope
  • Must be available for shift hours (6:00 AM - 2:30 PM, Monday to Friday).
  • Spend varying amounts of time in walk-in freezers and fridge, where many chemicals are stored.
  • Working closely with chemical compounds including ones that are potentially toxic or classified as Dangerous Goods.
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment at all times when handling chemicals.
  • Must be able to stand for a long period of time.
  • Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 25 kg/55 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Ensure that all incoming new products from the Warehouse or Quality teams get properly labelled and stored according to appropriate storage conditions.

  • Carefully and accurately weigh chemicals as required.
  • Use appropriate containers and follow weighing instructions.
  • Inspect and verify orders, and product labelling before final packaging.
  • Prioritize chemical products to be picked according to First in First Out (FIFO).
  • Report any loss or missing items to the Finished Goods supervisor.
  • Communicate any potential issues to the Finished Goods team lead or supervisor.
