About The Position

This role involves assisting with filling and packaging orders from the warehouse in preparation for shipment. The position also requires maintaining the warehouse and inventory of products and/or customer-supplied materials, and assisting with training and continuous improvement efforts. Responsibilities include picking or packaging a variety of printed materials or related items using various packing procedures and techniques, following detailed procedures to perform routine packing work, and assembling finished products into boxes or containers for shipping. The role also involves operating computers and relevant warehouse management software, performing tasks such as placing labels on packages, putting manuals into binders, and handling boxes for final product. Ensuring accurate shipping information is attached and packages are shipped according to the specified schedule is crucial. The job requires placing, arranging, marking, sealing, and tagging items in bundles, on pallets, and/or in containers, bins, and bulk storage, while meeting established productivity and quality standards. Identifying potential issues and involving the department Lead and/or management for solutions is part of the role, as is participating in continuous training and development of employees and temporary labor. Tasks also include counting and sorting various product items, potentially feeding, removing, flexing, jogging, and stacking printed sheets, folded signatures, labels, or other in-process product to and from equipment. Loading and unloading materials onto pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand is required. The role may involve loading materials into trucks and installing strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit using hand tools. Conveying materials from storage or work sites to designated areas using a hand truck, electric dolly, or other device is also a responsibility. Occasional operation of industrial trucks or electric hoists to assist in loading or moving materials and products may be required. The position may also assist with special projects or more complex customer orders, and assist with maintaining the security and safety of the warehouse. Other duties as assigned will also be performed.

Requirements

  • 1+ year of relevant working experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment required
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret job specifications and identifying the correct parts for fulfilling customer orders.
  • Must have very good oral and written communication skills sufficient to explain departmental procedures and/or methods when completing assignments.
  • Basic knowledge of routine packing procedures, techniques, equipment and general warehouse procedures.
  • Able to stock, move, arrange, and rotate items in accordance with operating instructions or under guidance of a higher-level employee.
  • Able to complete appropriate forms relating to stock description, quantity, unit of issue, and the labeling requirements for incoming and outgoing materials.
  • Skill in assembling standard shipping boxes and packing contents securely.
  • Basic skill in the use of shrink-wrap or strapping equipment’s, manual dollies, pallet jacks, carts or hand trucks and hand tools used in material handling tasks such as strapping and stretch wrapping tools and equipment, tape fasteners, metal band sheers and related equipment.
  • Basic arithmetic to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  • Must be willing to flex schedule to meet the needs of production, including working overtime or a different shift, if needed.
  • Must be able to use a ladder to pick items or to retrieve boxes or materials.
