About The Position

This role is responsible for picking ware from pick racks, loading specified cartons, and transporting them to the appropriate dock door. The Picker Checker will verify each item against an order sheet, mark pallets with SKU and quantity, and transport them to the correct location. This position also involves preparing shipments, applying labels, and performing safety checks on equipment. Additionally, the role requires data entry via computer, maintaining equipment supplies, and ensuring a clean and safe work area. The Picker Checker will also perform other duties as assigned by supervision.

Requirements

  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly as part of regular job duties.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the work area for the duration of the shift (excluding breaks and meal periods).
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to understand safety instructions, operating procedures, and workplace communication.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal directions to maintain a safe and efficient workplace.
  • Must be able to work scheduled shifts consistently and on time, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as business needs require.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work is required.
  • Must comply with all company safety policies, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Must maintain professional behavior and demonstrate teamwork and respect toward others in the workplace.
  • Must be able to work in environments that may include varying temperatures, noise levels, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and able to provide documentation verifying identity and employment eligibility in accordance with federal and Ohio law.

Responsibilities

  • Pick ware from pick racks, load the specified number of cartons, and take it to appropriate dock door.
  • Check each item from tabulated or order sheet as it is picked (scan items as needed).
  • Mark full pallet load with SKU and quantity of items and transport pallet to proper location using order picker.
  • Carry carton of broken ware to breakage pallet, build until loads as required, level cartons in trailer to provide stable load, insert reorder tickets as required, prepare on-going shipment.
  • Check cartons by item, quantity, weight, and load carrier.
  • Get tabulated sheets, orders labels, stencils, and specials signs from foreman.
  • Apply labels, stencils, or numbers to cartons as needed.
  • Prepare UPS and overnight shipping containers.
  • Perform safety and operating checks on equipment being used.
  • Key or scan data into computers to print labels and reports.
  • Change stretch wrap film on stretch wrap machine & label stock and print cartridges on printer.
  • Maintain quality housekeeping and good safety practices in the work area.
  • Do other work as required by supervision.

Benefits

  • Base Pay: $19.45/hour
  • Shift Differential: Additional $0.55/hour for 2nd shift ($20.00/hour)
  • $1,000 perfect attendance bonus after 60 days of employment
  • Union Bonuses (once a member of the United Steelworkers): $150 monthly attendance bonus, $75 quarterly safety bonus
  • 8-hour shifts
  • Shift Options: 1st Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM, 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
  • Overtime: Paid at 1.5x for hours over 40 per week (extended shift or weekends)
  • Full benefits available after 30 days of employment (healthcare, dental vision, etc.)
