About The Position

South Shore Conservatory (SSC) is seeking an enthusiastic and nurturing Piano Teacher with a passion for introducing young children to music through engaging, developmentally appropriate piano instruction. The ideal candidate enjoys working with students ages 3 and up, particularly beginners, and is committed to building strong musical foundations while fostering confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love of music. This position’s primary focus is on individual piano instruction for early childhood and beginning-level students. Candidates should be comfortable teaching foundational piano skills through a variety of pedagogical approaches and be able to adapt instruction to meet the unique needs of each learner. Experience with early childhood music education, Suzuki-inspired teaching practices, group piano instruction, or other child-centered methodologies is welcomed but not required. A commitment to creating a positive, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment is essential. The successful candidate will bring patience, warmth, and enthusiasm to their teaching, helping young musicians develop strong musical skills while making learning joyful and rewarding.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree with at least two years of relevant teaching experience is required.
  • Reliable transportation is required, particularly for access to the Duxbury campus.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with early childhood music education, Suzuki-inspired teaching practices, group piano instruction, or other child-centered methodologies is welcomed but not required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in music performance or education is preferred.
  • Priority consideration will be given to candidates with graduate-level degrees.
  • Is a team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Has a commitment to pedagogy and a desire to work with students of all abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Teach private piano lessons for young children and beginning students, building strong musical foundations through engaging, student-centered instruction.
  • Develop thoughtful lesson plans and individualized goals that support student growth, effectively deliver in-person and virtual instruction as needed, and track progress toward musical and educational objectives.
  • With the Department Chair, identify best-practice resources and materials to enhance student learning
  • Communicate in an effective and timely manner with SSC students, families, and staff.
  • Actively participate in Department and SSC community initiatives, including student events, recitals, and competitions, and encourage students participation when appropriate
  • Cultivate and maintain a positive and structured learning environment.
