About The Position

The Fine Arts Program at UT Southern is seeking a part-time piano accompanist to support the UT Southern Concert Choir, Southern Arts Chorale Community Choir, and other events or classes. This role involves providing piano accompaniment for rehearsals and performances of choirs and the voice studio, as well as for special events, piano lessons, and university classes. There may be opportunities to teach piano lessons in the Music Academy based on qualifications and availability. The position requires approximately 5-10 hours of accompaniment per week, plus additional hours for events. This is an in-person position.

Requirements

• Legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without need now or in the future for sponsorship for employment visa status.
• Master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education or equivalent experience.
• Ability to follow vocalist/instrumentalist/conductor in rehearsals and performance.
• Minimum 2 years accompaniment experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to collaborate and work well with choirs or other musical ensembles.
• This is an in-person position.

Responsibilities

• Provide accompaniment for a variety of music and music applications for the campus and community, including ensemble accompaniment, voice studio, piano lessons, jury examinations, rehearsals, recitals, and university events.
• Work with the UT Southern Music Director to ensure adequate staffing for music offerings.
• Arrange for substitutes when absent.
• Regularly check email account and respond to emails/messages in a timely manner.
