Physiotherapy Assistant
About The Position
Lifemark Seniors Wellness is looking for a Temporary Contract, Full-Time Physiotherapy Assistant to join their growing team. In this role, the assistant will help the supervising physiotherapist with treatment plans for individuals in residential care communities. This includes performing various treatments like gait training, balance exercises, transfer training, range of motion, strengthening, and applying modalities such as heat, ice, ultrasound, and TENS. The role also involves leading dynamic, safe, and therapeutically beneficial exercise classes for groups of residents, preparing and cleaning up equipment and treatment areas, and ensuring these spaces are safe and tidy. Maintaining regular communication with the physiotherapist about resident status or treatment concerns is crucial, as is recording daily treatments using Seniors Wellness' proprietary, web-based system.
Requirements
- PTA/OTA diploma, degree in Kinesiology or a similar healthcare background
- A valid Vulnerable Sector screening check (within 6 months)
- Proof of Tuberculin (2-Step Mantoux Test) clearance
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience within an LTC setting an asset.
Responsibilities
- Assist the supervising physiotherapist in performing various components of the treatment plans for individuals living in residential care communities
- Perform various treatments as prescribed and directed by the supervising Physiotherapist including but not limited to gait training, balance exercises, transfer training, range of motion, strengthening, application of modalities. (i.e. heat, ice, ultrasound, TENS)
- Deliver dynamic, safe and therapeutically beneficial exercise classes for groups of residents
- Set up and prepare equipment and clean up after residents' treatments
- Ensure that the resident gym and treatment areas are safe and tidy
- Maintain regular ongoing communication with the physiotherapist regarding any changes or concerns about a resident's status or treatment interventions
- Record daily treatments using Seniors Wellness' proprietary, web-based system
