About The Position

Come work as a Physiotherapy Assistant (Rehabilitation Assistant) with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a part of the Three Bridges Home Health team. Apply now to join the team! Within the context of a client and family centred care model, this position functions under the operational supervision of the Manager or Team Leader the practice supervision of the PT Practice Coordinator and the direction of a licensed designated physiotherapist to work as a member of the health care team. Provides assigned physical therapy therapeutic interventions; assists in modification of PT care plans in order to enable clients to maximize potential for independence. Provides functional direction to client and family, reports relevant observations of client's condition and progress in writing or by utilizing basic computer literacy, manages equipment safety and inventory. ABOUT HOME HEALTH PROGRAMS: Home Health programs provide a range of health care and support services to people living in the community who have acute, chronic, palliative or rehabilitative health care needs. THE CLIENT POPULATION: Home Health clients typically have on-going health issues and/or complex personal and/or social issues, requiring care planning and coordination of appropriate resources. Clients include frail elderly, younger clients with disabilities, and adults with chronic illnesses requiring supports to maintain/promote independence. Three Bridges serves the Downtown, West End, Coal Harbour, Yaletown and Fairview Slopes areas.

Requirements

  • Completion of a recognized Diploma level Rehabilitation Assistant Program with Physical therapy components plus one (1) year's recent, related experience working with target population or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Valid BC Driver's License and access to a vehicle
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Computer literacy skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others
  • Ability to operate related equipment
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work
  • Ability to observe and recognize changes in clients
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients
  • Ability to motivate clients and to encourage progression through therapeutic goals
  • Demonstrated ability to provide self-care instruction and education
