About The Position

This position will report to the Manager, Professional Practitioner, and works with the clinical services manager. The role involves carrying out assigned tasks under the direction of physiotherapists and occupational therapists, providing a variety of patient support services. This includes administrative tasks, stocking supplies, equipment inventory, and cleaning/maintenance. The assistant will work with patients and families to help rehabilitate each patient to achieve their maximum functional level through planned therapeutic programs. Participation in patient care team meetings, discipline-specific meetings, special projects, and supervision of students is also expected.

Requirements

  • Two year Physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist Assistant certification from a recognized Canadian community college (required to have dual training as an occupational therapy assistant/physiotherapy assistant)
  • Ability to speak, read and write the English language
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with excellent time management and organizational skills required
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize responsibilities and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision
  • Good critical thinking and problem-solving skills required
  • Physical ability to do job duties as assigned; demonstrated knowledge of body mechanics to prevent musculoskeletal injuries
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education
  • Proven attendance and work record
  • May be required to travel between and work at all Osler sites

Nice To Haves

  • Two years recent clinical experience in adult physical medicine including rehab and geriatrics
