About The Position

American Heritage Schools- Palm Beach Campus is seeking a dedicated Physics Teacher. The ideal candidate will possess a strong academic background and proven experience delivering high-level instruction. Honors and Advanced Placement (AP) background is preferred.

Requirements

  • Preferred minimum three years teaching experience in a K-12 instructional setting.
  • Valid Florida State Teaching License or single subject teaching credential, certification and/or experience in a specialized subject.
  • ESOL endorsed, ESE certification preferred.
  • B.A./B.S. in education from an accredited institution or B.F.A. for fine arts instructors.
  • Professional experience in related field.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; ability to facilitate and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to utilize educational technologies such as iPads, learning software, and basic word processing software.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Flexibility, organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Educating and supporting students to help them reach learning targets.
  • Making sound instructional decisions.
  • Creating and maintaining a learning environment where positive relationships are built and routines and procedures are in place to create collective responsibility.

  • Assessing formatively and summatively, and providing feedback to students for their academic achievement.

  • Following the AHS curriculum framework/scope and sequence.
  • Articulating instructional purpose and learning outcomes.
  • Designing structured lessons and activities with a focus on student engagement and critical thinking.
  • Curating and designing resources and incorporating instructional technologies aligned with learning outcomes.
  • Providing clear expectations for learning, clear explanations of content, and using academic language.
  • Aligning activities, assignments, questions, and discussions with learning outcomes.
  • Entering all lesson activities, assignments, and assessments into the school’s learning management system one week in advance by each Friday afternoon; include due dates for all assignments and assessments so that they are visible in student and parent calendars.
  • Ensuring learning by all students by frequently monitoring student understanding.
  • Assessing learning in a variety of ways, using formative and summative measures including but not limited to traditional and alternative assessments; preparing and administering semester and/or final exams and standardized tests.
  • Providing timely and relevant feedback to students and parents; entering grades into the school learning management/student information systems weekly.
  • Using assessment data to inform instructional decisions.
  • Differentiating and modifying learning tasks according to student need; implementing accommodations as directed.
  • Demonstrating caring and respect in interactions with students.
  • Establishing routines and procedures for a productive physical environment.
  • Monitoring student behavior so that students take ownership and contribute to a positive, productive learning environment.
  • Maintaining standards of appropriate discipline in accordance with school rules and the student handbook.
  • Providing for students’ safety and general welfare.
  • Proactively communicating with parents, principals, and academic advisors.
  • Preparing progress reports and providing comments as needed.
  • Conducting parent/teacher conferences quarterly and as needed.
  • Being an active contributor to the school’s curriculum; providing feedback and sharing resources with colleagues.
  • Contributing to team-planning; attending and engaging in professional learning communities (formal cross-campus meetings for collaboration and intensive reflection upon instructional practices and desired student outcomes); attending team, department, and staff meetings.
  • Demonstrating a commitment to professional learning.
  • Preparing for and attending required events including but not limited to Back to School Night, Meet and Greets, Conference Days, and Professional Development Days.
  • Providing required weekly extra help after school.
  • If teaching in the Academy Program, providing expert differentiated instruction and demonstrating strategies for meeting the needs of students with mild learning differences.
  • Managing facility and equipment for specialized instructional areas such as Science, Engineering, etc. as warranted.
  • Coordinating and attending events for specialized instructional areas as warranted including but not limited to Open House, Pre-Professional Education Night, Fine Arts Festival, Theater Productions, Band and Orchestra Concerts, School Fairs/Contests, District and State Competitions.
  • Ensuring the effective and efficient deployment of classroom support from teaching assistants; evaluating teacher assistants annually.
