About The Position

BASIS Independent Brooklyn Upper School is seeking a Physics Teacher for immediate hire. The teacher will teach grade 8 physics and AP Physics, delivering higher-level content in an interactive learning environment. The role includes implementing the BASIS Curriculum through effective, creative lessons and assessments, fostering student academic achievement and personal responsibility, and collaborating with colleagues to build a supportive professional learning community. The teacher is expected to inspire students, support their academic and career development, and create a classroom environment that values informed thought, diverse perspectives, and individuality.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in the subject area.
• Deep knowledge of and passion for the subject taught.
• Ability to differentiate instruction and engage students in rigorous content.
• Ability to create a positive classroom community and build relationships with students.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with students, colleagues, and parents.
• Openness to feedback and continuous growth.
• Creativity in instructional and classroom management strategies.

• Coursework or experience in education is not required, nor is certification.

Responsibilities

• Teach sections of grade 8 physics and AP Physics.
• Teach higher-level content than grade standards in an interactive learning environment.
• Instruct students in subject-specific knowledge and skills to support their academic and career success.
• Implement the BASIS Curriculum by designing effective and creative lessons and assessments.
• Collaborate with other BASIS Curriculum Teachers in a professional and academic environment.
• Guide student behavior to foster academic achievement, personal responsibility, intellect, and individuality.
