About The Position

Applied Materials is seeking a Physicist/Scientist to define and develop inspection and metrology systems and technologies for new products. The role involves researching physics and related subjects, designing and qualifying system modules, and conducting experiments and feasibility studies to evaluate new technologies and concepts. The position supports system and application issues in the lab and field, contributes expertise to customer engagements, and helps guide less experienced physicists and scientists.

Responsibilities

Define novel inspection system concepts and configurations.
Collect and analyze data and design statistically valid experiments.
Design and engineer modules, and qualify modules and sub-modules.
Design, perform, collect, and analyze data on advanced substrate technologies and concepts for new products.
Develop new or modified inspection and metrology systems.
Conduct research and analysis in physics or related subjects.
Support physics-related application and system issues in the lab and field when required.
Define system requirements and specifications and troubleshoot system problems.
Respond to field physics issues and advise on resolving physics-related application issues.
Plan projects involving the definition and selection of concepts and approaches for developing new or improved tools.
Supply data for product risk management decisions.
Participate in vendor selection and technological customer engagements, contributing expertise in the relevant field.
Guide less experienced physicists and scientists.
Evaluate new technologies, pursue innovative solutions, evaluate competitors, and define new market needs.
Plan and conduct tests of technologies under evaluation.
Execute feasibility studies of new technologies and complete systems or sub-systems, providing results and analysis to support decision-making.
Prepare demonstrations of new capabilities and conduct performance analysis.
