About The Position

This position involves conducting quality assurance checks on radiation therapy equipment, providing technical support for treatment planning, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient treatment plans. The role also includes performing routine checks of patient treatment parameters, monitoring dose delivery, and ensuring compliance with prescriptions. Additionally, the physicist will provide training and education to staff on radiation safety and new technologies, maintain documentation, and adhere to regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • MASTER’S DEGREE IN MEDICAL PHYSICS REQUIRED
  • ABR OR ABMP CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
  • Proficiency with treatment planning software
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient safety and quality care standards.

Nice To Haves

  • PHD PREFERRED
  • Experience working in clinical radiation oncology environment preferred.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct quality assurance checks on radiation therapy equipment, including linear accelerators, CT scanner, treatment planning systems, and imaging devices.
  • Provide technical support for treatment planning, including contouring, dose calculations, and plan optimization using advanced treatment planning systems. Perform treatment planning on an as-needed basis for both external beam and HDR brachytherapy treatments.
  • Collaborate with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and radiation therapists on development and implementation of patient treatment plans, including simulation coverage as needed.
  • Perform routine checks of patient treatment parameters, monitor patient dose delivery, and ensure compliance with treatment prescriptions.
  • Provide training and education to staff members on radiation safety, treatment techniques, and new technology implementations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all quality assurance activities and equipment calibration.
  • Adhere to all regulatory requirements and accreditation standards applicable to radiation oncology.
