About The Position

PM Pediatric Care is the largest pediatric urgent care network in the country, founded and led by pediatric emergency physicians. Their mission is to provide high-quality, convenient, and accessible urgent care for children and young adults as an alternative to the emergency department. The company is academically driven, offering practice guidelines, CME-accredited lectures, workshops, a national conference, and research opportunities. They provide a supportive work environment with individualized learning programs for pediatricians, including procedural training, radiology interpretation, and an evidence-based approach to illness/injury. The practice is set up like an ED with on-site x-ray and lab services, strong support staff, and specialty consultations available. They maintain a positive reputation within local communities and with primary care providers. The work schedule is flexible with no overnights, offering roles from 12-36 hours per week (PT/FT).

Requirements

  • Excellent computer skills and experience with EMR (eCW experience preferred).
  • BC/BE in Pediatrics.
  • Urgent Care or Emergency Department experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and treat acute injury and illness for both in-person and telemedicine patients, including managing febrile infants/children, ear/nose/throat infections, pediatric abdominal pain, anaphylaxis, procedural anxiolysis, respiratory distress, croup, and asthma.
  • Perform procedural care such as abscess drainage, foreign body removal, and laceration repair with sutures, staples, and dermal adhesive.
  • Take radiographs and provide preliminary interpretation of x-rays (in applicable states).
  • Oversee patient flow and daily office functions, including oversight of other providers, staff, and trainees on shift.
  • Maintain operations by following policies and procedures and reporting needed changes to management.
  • Work with onsite and telemedicine teams to ensure completion of daily tasks, including lab and radiology result review, patient follow-up, and timely responses to patient inquiries.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, equitable, and healthy work environment by adhering to safety procedures, quality standards, and legal regulations.
  • Protect patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Update knowledge and skills through internal training, continuing education, professional publications, and participation in professional organizations.
  • Assist the clinical team and patients with complaints and participate in service recovery.
  • Focus on efficiency metrics to improve urgent care flow, antibiotic stewardship, and patient experience.
