About The Position

Physician Federal Correctional Institution Marion – Temporary Physician Services. This Position Is Contingent Upon Bid Award. Work Location: Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Marion Health Services Department, Marion, Illinois 62959. Type of Employment: Part-Time / As-Needed Contractor Position with W-2 employment through Fidelity Partners. Staffing: One (1) Physician. Estimated Schedule: Approximately 20 one-hour sessions per week, typically over two workdays per week, with up to 10 sessions per workday. Period of Performance: Anticipated start November 1, 2026; one 12-month base period plus one 12-month option period, for up to 24 months total. Estimated Compensation: $126.46 per hour. Work Arrangement: On-site in the FCI Marion Health Services Department. Routine telework is not authorized. Security / Suitability Requirements: Must successfully complete applicable BOP/DOJ Public Trust suitability screening and institutional access requirements, including fingerprints and required background checks. The Physician will provide on-site medical care to Adults in Custody at FCI Marion. The position includes evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, medication management, referrals, physical examinations, medical-history review, diagnostic testing, patient communication, and complete documentation in the Bureau of Prisons electronic medical record.

Requirements

  • Must possess a current and valid license to practice medicine.
  • Must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to independently perform the required physician services.
  • Must provide a current resume and copies of applicable education, license, certification, and training documentation.
  • Must successfully complete Bureau of Prisons credentialing and privileging before providing clinical services.
  • Must maintain all required licenses, certifications, credentials, and clinical privileges throughout performance.
  • Must satisfy applicable BOP/DOJ background screening, institutional access, privacy, and security requirements.
  • Must be able to provide on-site care in a correctional healthcare environment and comply with all institutional security procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Provide in-house medical care to Adults in Custody within the FCI Marion Health Services Department.
  • Perform complete physical examinations and obtain comprehensive medical and social histories.
  • Conduct physical assessments and document clinical findings.
  • Evaluate symptoms, diagnose medical conditions, and develop appropriate treatment plans.
  • Order diagnostic tests and review results as clinically indicated.
  • Prescribe or provide appropriate treatment and medications within applicable scope and privileges.
  • Refer patients to specialists and community hospitals when medically necessary.
  • Communicate clinical findings, diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up instructions to patients as appropriate.
  • Complete all required electronic medical record documentation by the end of the workday.
  • Comply with Bureau of Prisons Health Services policies, professional standards, Federal and State requirements, accreditation standards, and institutional procedures.
  • Protect patient information and comply with Privacy Act and applicable confidentiality requirements.
  • Follow all correctional security, movement, access, and safety requirements while working within the institution.
