About The Position

This is a part-time position working up to 20 hours a week. The Physician is a crucial member of our healthcare team that provides comprehensive medical care to patients living with HIV and at risk for HIV. The Physician provides management of primary care health and wellness, urgent care assessments and the treatment of co-morbid conditions in an adult population. In this role, you will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary health care team in addressing both the medical and social needs of our patients. This role requires strong clinical skills, empathy, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to a diverse patient population.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited school required.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with primary care delivery in a clinical setting
  • Board certification in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine or a related field.
  • Current unrestricted medical license in the state of practice and any adjacent states as required.
  • Valid DEA license or the ability to obtain DEA.
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with patients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to providing integrated and patient-centered care with compassion and empathy.

Nice To Haves

  • HIV experience in a not-for-profit environment.
  • Board certification in Infectious Disease or experience working in HIV/AIDS care.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive histories and physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and develop appropriate assessments and ongoing evaluations of patients living with HIV/AIDS and at risk for HIV.
  • Develop and implement individualized pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment plans both independently and in collaboration with the supervising physician and other healthcare professionals.
  • Monitor patients' progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and address any complications or side effects.
  • Provide counseling and education to patients and their families regarding HIV/AIDS management, treatment adherence, and prevention strategies.
  • Collaborate with specialists, pharmacists, case managers, and other healthcare providers to provide integrated and comprehensive patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records, including documentation of patient encounters, treatment plans, and outcomes.
  • Assist as needed with the supervision, training and mentorship of Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants.
  • Participate in and lead quality improvement initiatives, research projects, and continuing education activities to enhance clinical practice and patient outcomes.
  • Assist as needed with the development and implementation of clinic policies and procedures, clinical protocols, continuous quality improvement standards and program monitoring.
  • Develop strong collaborative relationships with the HIV medical community to enhance patient access to services including specialists and consultant care.
  • Perform any and all other duties assigned by the Medical Director and/or Chief Medical Officer.
  • Other duties as assigned.
