About The Position

The Physician will support the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi University Health Center, an acute-care clinic serving currently enrolled students. The role provides medical oversight and consultation for Family Nurse Practitioners, registered nurses, and other medical staff; supports patient care and clinical policy development; and performs occasional Telehealth visits when required.

Requirements

Must hold a current license to practice medicine in the State of Texas and maintain a current DEA number.
Must demonstrate the experience and capacity necessary to perform the required physician services and clinical-oversight duties.
Must maintain professional medical malpractice liability insurance of at least $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate.
Must be able to supervise Family Nurse Practitioners and medical staff and remain available for consultation during clinic hours.
Must disclose medical practices in other states and any pending or past disciplinary action by a medical board or employer.
Must successfully complete the required background check before contract execution.
Must comply with applicable clinical, confidentiality, privacy, recordkeeping, University, and professional-practice requirements.
Current resume or curriculum vitae documenting work experience, related experience, professional references, and a profile of medical services currently provided to the community.
Copies of a current Texas medical license, current DEA registration, and board-certification documentation, if applicable.
Proof of required professional malpractice liability insurance and any disclosures, background-check information, credentialing materials, or onboarding documents requested by Fidelity Partners or Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.

Nice To Haves

Board certification in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine is preferred.

Responsibilities

Supervise three Family Nurse Practitioners and provide clinical oversight to University Health Center medical staff.
Audit and sign at least 5% to 10% of the Family Nurse Practitioners' patient medical records every 30 working days; additional chart reviews may be performed.
Remain available by telephone to consult with Family Nurse Practitioners and registered nurses during clinic hours.
Establish clinical-care guidelines for Family Nurse Practitioners and, when appropriate, audit patient medical records completed by registered nurses.
Meet monthly with the Director, Associate Director, and Family Nurse Practitioners, either in person or virtually.
Implement standing orders that allow registered nurses and medical staff to provide limited acute primary care within their authorized scope.
Review standing orders with Health Center administrative staff at least annually and update them as needed.
Collaborate with Health Center professional staff to develop care plans and provide appropriate treatment to students.
Review and approve University Health Center policies and procedures with administrative staff at least annually.
Consult with the Office of Student Engagement and Success as necessary while maintaining applicable confidentiality requirements.
Identify an alternate physician who can perform the required services, including FNP supervision, when the assigned physician is unavailable.
Conduct occasional patient-care visits through Telehealth when required and provide on-site professional healthcare services as assigned.
Maintain accurate and timely medical records and participate in applicable quality assurance, peer review, risk management, and utilization-review activities.
