About The Position

Sanford Health is seeking a BC/BE Fellowship Trained Vascular Surgeon to join their team in Sioux Falls, SD. Physicians will specialize in Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm, Carotid Artery Disease/Stroke prevention, Wound Healing Limb Preservation, PAD/PVD, Varicose Veins, and Vascular Lab interpretation. The role requires travel to outreach clinics and involves a 1:4 call schedule. Core privileges include performing history and physical examinations, admitting patients, evaluating, diagnosing, consulting, and providing nonsurgical and surgical care for diseases and disorders of the arterial, venous, and lymphatic circulatory systems, excluding intracranial vessels or the heart.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree
  • Successful completion of a vascular fellowship via one of the four pathways approved and accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada
  • Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/ subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable
  • Must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their fellowship training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement (for those not board certified at time of application but completed fellowship within last five years)
  • Certification as a Registered Physician Vascular Interpretation (RPVI) offered by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography
  • Demonstrate at least 50 vascular surgery procedures in the last 12 months (either via fellowship log or quality profile/documentation of clinical activity)
  • Willingness to travel to outreach clinics

  • Quality profile from hospital(s) where currently has privileges showing clinical activity for the past 12 months, including numbers of procedures performed, morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications (if not applying directly out of fellowship)
  • Documentation of clinical setting activity for the last 12 months (if quality profile is not available)

Responsibilities

  • Perform history and physical examination
  • Admit patients (if applicable to the setting)
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and consult on patients
  • Provide nonsurgical and surgical care to patients of all ages with disease and disorders of the arterial, venous, and lymphatic circulatory systems, excluding the intracranial vessels or heart
  • Interpret vascular studies to correlate clinical relevance
  • Travel to outreach clinics in surrounding communities
