About The Position

Corewell Health East is seeking a nationally recognized cardiologist to serve as the Regional Director of Structural Heart Disease in the Heart and Vascular Service Line. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a nationally recognized cardiovascular program with a long tradition of excellence in patient care, education, research and innovation. The Director will advance a coordinated, patient-centered strategy for structural heart disease at three campuses including Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital, Corewell Health Troy and Corewell Health Dearborn; expand access to leading transcatheter therapies; strengthen research and education; and partner with cardiology, cardiac surgery, imaging, nursing, operations and service-line leadership to position Corewell Health East as the regional destination for complex structural heart care. The Corewell Health Heart & Vascular service line spans 8 hospitals offering a broad portfolio of programs and services ranging from prevention to highly complex cardiovascular surgery with a strong foundation built on quality, service and excellence. William Beaumont University Hospital serves as the quaternary hub for cardiology, cardiac surgery and vascular surgery, and includes a robust Aortic Disease Center and Robotic Surgery program. Since the first TAVR was performed at William Beaumont University Hospital in 2005, the Structural Heart Disease team has been at the forefront of new innovations in field with early adoption of transcatheter valve technologies and procedures. Research and innovation are central to the success of the structural program. The successful candidate will be a nationally recognized structural cardiologist and physician leader with an outstanding track record of program development, innovation, clinical research, and advancing quality and service initiatives to achieve the highest quality patient care. Prior physician leadership experience in Structural Heart Disease is required for this role. The Director of Structural Heart Disease will serve as a senior thought leader, accountable for the overall strategic positioning and success of the Structural Heart Disease program at Corewell Health East. The successful candidate will have responsibility for the ongoing development, integration, and optimization of the structural programs at Corewell Health East. This leader will have responsibility for programmatic growth, expanding innovation and pivotal trials, addition of new niche quaternary service, expanding market share, maximizing value, and increasing patient satisfaction, quality care delivery, standardization, clinician well-being, and financial performance. The leader will develop a roadmap for research platform growth and expansion of the non-ACGME Structural Fellowship program. The candidate will align with the system-wide clinical service line strategy and with Corewell Health’s overarching organizational strategy to ensure the program reflects its mission and its deep commitment to outstanding patient-centered care. The candidate will have excellent communication skills, be comfortable working with hospital and medical group practice leadership, employed and independent cardiologists, and exhibit a trusted, compelling demeanor with a deep sense of professionalism. The leader will have a strong business acumen, high emotional intelligence, and be a consensus-oriented individual who displays “respectful courage,” and is influential in their ability to encourage people forward. The candidate will report to the Regional Division Chief of Cardiology.

Requirements

  • Board certified/eligible in Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology
  • Unrestricted License - Michigan MD/DO
  • Unrestricted DEA License
  • Commitment to team-based care
  • Significant expertise in transcatheter valve and structural heart procedures
  • Prior physician leadership experience in Structural Heart Disease
