About The Position

The physician is responsible for the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of the health problems presented by the patients. The physician will develop and cultivate positive and productive working relationships with other Corewell Health personnel, and promote a culture of safety, teamwork, compassion, collaboration, clarity, curiosity, and courage. They will demonstrate a commitment to service and distinctive, personalized care with both internal and external customers, while striving to exceed customer expectations. The role also involves assisting in meeting operational, financial, and patient satisfaction goals, and timely completion of all specific competencies and annual organizational mandatories. The physician will assess and monitor the medical needs of patients, provide quality medical services in a cost-effective, appropriate manner, and ensure coverage of caseload at all times. Regular communication with patients’ families, referring physicians, specialists, nursing staff and other hospital departments regarding the plan of care and treatment of patients is expected. Medical services will be documented in the patient’s medical record in a manner consistent with hospital, payor, and regulatory standards. Participation in on-call and weekend coverage, value-based reimbursement programs, quality initiatives, Quality Improvement (QI) / Quality Assurance (QA) and peer review activities, and the development of policies and procedures related to medical practice and quality patient care are also key aspects of the role. The physician will also participate in ongoing process improvement activities and support patient participation in clinical trials and research projects. Additionally, the role includes providing oversight, teaching, and mentorship of fellows, residents, APPs, and students.

Requirements

• Doctorate degree required.
• LIC-Physician (MD) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
• LIC-Osteopathic Physician (DO) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
• CRT-DEA Registration - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
• CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 120 Days required Or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 120 Days required
• CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association 120 Days required

Responsibilities

• Participate in value-based reimbursement programs and quality initiatives, as required by the Department.
• Participate in Quality Improvement (QI) / Quality Assurance (QA) and peer review activities as requested.
• Assist, as requested, in the development of policies and procedures as they related to medical practice and quality patient care.
• Participate in ongoing process improvement activities through the development/application of clinical paths, process improvement and other related activities.
• Support patient participation in clinical trials and research projects, assess clinical safety and efficacy data, consistent with Research Institute policies.
• Provide oversight, teaching, and mentorship of fellows, residents, APPs (e.g., physician assistants and advance practice registered nurses), and students and others (as appropriate) providing services to patients, including meaningful participation with the affiliated medical schools as requested.
