About The Position

This position is located at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center - Director for Clinical Support, Dept of Radiology. The work environment is a hospital office setting within a specialized academic practice with a Graduate Medical Education (GME) program. The standard duty day is from 0830 to 1630, with intermittent evening swing shifts, morning readout shifts with residents, and overnight/weekend call. Weekend call is approximately 3-4 weekends per year. Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from an accredited school in the United States or Canada.
• Degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
• For foreign medical school degrees, must have permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
• Must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
• Must have at least one year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting (e.g., a one-year internship or the first year of a residency program) in an accredited institution.
• Must have successfully completed the required accredited residency training in Diagnostic Radiology, equal to at least 4 years. Experience cannot be substituted for required residency training.

• Board certified or board eligible - Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology (DABR).

Responsibilities

• Interpret diagnostic imaging modality exams such as MRI, CT, Ultrasound, plain film, fluoroscopy, mammography, and nuclear scintigraphy.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to assist and direct clinical care plans.
• Re-evaluate incoming studies of patients transferred from other facilities to determine the accuracy of the diagnosis.
• Instruct radiology personnel in technique, position, and projection.
• Oversee the development of imaging service protocols to achieve best practice standards.
• Implement standard clinical practices and initiate new techniques, methods, and research protocols to evaluate imaging issues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
