About The Position

Sanford Health has an opening for a Psychiatrist to provide psychiatric medical care to patients of Fargo, ND and the surrounding area. M.D., or equivalent foreign medical degree, as well as completion of a residency program in Psychiatry. Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in North Dakota and BC/BE. Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • Completion of a residency program in Psychiatry.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in North Dakota.
  • BC/BE (Board Certified/Board Eligible).
  • Successful completion of a hospital affiliated Psychiatry residency program accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/ subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
  • Those applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their residency training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their residency training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.

Nice To Haves

  • Training at residency and programs accredited by organizations other than the ACGME, AOA or Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada may be considered via the waiver of eligibility process as defined in the Credentialing Policy.
  • If not applying directly out of residency, provide a quality profile from hospital(s) where he/she currently has privileges showing clinical activity for the last 12 months, including numbers of procedures performed morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications.
  • Demonstrate active involvement of inpatient services to be at least 30 patients in the last 12 months.
  • If a quality profile is not available, documentation of the applicant’s clinic activity for the last 12 months is required.
  • Demonstrate active involvement in the care of 30 patients in clinical practice in the last 12 months.

Responsibilities

  • Perform history and physical examination.
  • Admit (if applicable to the setting) patients.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients above the age of 12 who suffer from mental, behavioral, addictive, or emotional disorders (e.g., psychoses, depression, anxiety disorders, substance abuse disorders, developmental disabilities, sexual dysfunctions, and adjustment disorders).
