About The Position

As a Psychiatrist you will systematically analyze patient health information to identify and coordinate the care needs of the individual patient focusing on the continuity of care. This position is part of the Integrated Medical team and is responsible for evaluating medical and psychosocial conditions; developing and implementing treatment plans, including prescription of psychotropic medications; monitoring and evaluating treatment results. This position works closely with the clinic staff and reports to Chief Behavioral Health and Addictions Officer. Provides telehealth services for majority of clients. Will be available to work with Behavioral Health Consultants. Participates in the peer review process as required by the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA). Completes target encounter number as per employment agreement. For patients seen in the hospital, all hospital charges must be submitted weekly to the Finance Dept. All HealthLinc staff is committed to engage in quality improvement initiatives that align with and support Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH). Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Community Psychiatry background preferred
• Graduation from an accredited medical school
• Residency program completed
• Board certification
• DEA certification
• CPR certification
• Indiana State Medical License
• Continuing medical education
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Proven computer and database management skills
• Cultural sensitivity
• Operate a multi-line phone system and other office equipment including printers, fax machines, etc.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, EHR, online sources, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Evaluates patients by interviewing patient, family, and other persons; conducting physical examinations; observing behaviors; reviewing medical history and related documents; selecting, administering, and interpreting psychological tests; ordering laboratory tests and evaluating results.
• Develops treatment plans by determining nature and extent of cognitive, emotional, developmental, social, and behavioral disorders; establishing treatment goals and methodologies.
• Treats patients by utilizing psychotherapeutic methods and medications; discussing progress toward goals with patients; providing instructions; monitoring effect of medications; supervising providers on the provision of services for clients with psychiatric disorders and psychopharmocology.
• Maintains interdisciplinary treatment by reviewing treatment plans and progress; consulting and collaborating with primary care physicians, Behavioral Health Consultants, nurses, and other health care providers.
• Assures quality and safe service for patients and staff by enforcing policies, procedures, standards and legal regulations; participating in utilization reviews; remaining available for emergency consultations.
• Improves staff competence by providing training and discussions regarding the interrelationship between psychosocial and physiological problems, psychotropic medications, crisis intervention, and related issues.
• Maintains historical records by documenting symptoms, medications, and treatment events; writing summaries.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in continuing medical educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
• Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
