About The Position

As a physician at UTMC, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality healthcare services to our diverse patient population. Your primary responsibility will be to diagnose and treat a wide range of medical conditions, ensuring that each patient receives personalized care tailored to their unique needs. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive treatment plans and provide ongoing support throughout the patient care continuum. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate medical records and adhering to all regulatory and ethical standards in healthcare. As a Level II Trauma Center, the University of Toledo Trauma Center is equipped to provide immediate, life-saving care for critical injuries 24 hours a day. Trauma Surgeons actively engage in even the most complex trauma cases in collaboration with Physician, APP, nursing, and administrative support. The Department Surgery continues to advance medical education through trauma prevention programs and clinical research opportunities.

Requirements

• MD/DO degree from an accredited institution.
• Valid medical license to practice in the state of Ohio.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in both General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care
• Successful completion of a residency program in Surgical Critical Care as well as a fellowship (if applicable)
• Strong diagnostic abilities, which are essential for accurately identifying patient conditions and determining appropriate treatment plans.
• Excellent communication skills are vital, as you will need to effectively convey complex medical information to patients and collaborate with other healthcare professionals.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills will be utilized daily to navigate challenging medical cases and make informed decisions.
• Empathy and interpersonal skills are crucial for building trust with patients and providing compassionate care.

• Experience in a clinical setting with a diverse patient population.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Proficiency in EHR systems, will enhance your efficiency in managing patient records and streamlining communication within the healthcare team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough patient examinations and assessments to determine medical conditions.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and medical history.
• Prescribe medications and therapies as appropriate, monitoring patient responses and adjusting treatments as necessary.
• Collaborate with nurses, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Educate patients and their families about health management, preventive care, and treatment options.
