About The Position

Sanford Clinic Worthington is looking to add one BE/BC pediatrician to its primary care group. The group consists of Family Medicine, Ob/Gyn, Radiation and Medical Oncologists, General Surgeons, Pediatricians, Orthopedic Surgeon, Podiatrist, Emergency Medicine, Hospitalists, and various Advanced Practice Providers. This is primarily an Outpatient Practice with Inpatient and Newborn Nursery responsibilities. Sanford Worthington provides Diabetic Education, Dietician, RN Care Manager and an Integrated Health Behavioral Therapist embedded in the clinic. You will collaborate with numerous pediatric sub-specialists within Sanford Children’s, with access to the renowned Sanford Children’s Hospital. The clinic uses EPIC Electronic Medical Record. This position is J1 eligible.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • Successful completion of a hospital affiliated residency Pediatric program accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/sub-specialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
  • Applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their residency training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their residency training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.
  • Demonstrate at least 50 pediatric patients in the last 12 months.
  • If not applying directly out of residency, provide a quality profile from the hospital(s) where he/she currently has privileges showing clinical activity for the past 12 months, including numbers of procedures performed, morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications.
  • If a quality profile is not available, documentation of the applicant’s clinical setting activity for the last 12 months is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Training at residency programs accredited by organizations other than ACGME, AOA, or Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada may be considered via the waiver of eligibility process as defined in the Credentialing Policy.

Responsibilities

  • Admit (if applicable to setting), evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation to patients from birth to young adulthood (21 years of age) concerning their physical, emotional, and social health.
  • Treat acute and chronic disease, including major complicated illnesses.
  • Provide care to patients in the intensive care setting in conformance with unit policies.
  • Assess, stabilize, and determine the disposition of patients with emergent conditions consistent with medical staff policy regarding emergency and consultative call services.
