About The Position

Sanford Health is seeking a BC/BE Pediatric Sleep Medicine physician, with or without interest in Pediatric Pulmonology, to join their team. The role involves performing pediatric sleep studies in a dedicated Pediatric Sleep Lab for patients aged infants to 18, and utilizing a portable sleep unit for inpatient studies. The physician will be part of the region's largest team of pediatric specialists and will have support from a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center and a new medical center with advanced facilities. The position also includes a joint appointment as clinical faculty with the Department of Pediatrics at UND School of Medicine and Health Science, teaching medical students and residents, with an upcoming pediatric residency program in 2024. Sanford Health Fargo serves a large catchment area of 1.2 million people across multiple states.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • Experience demonstrated through the evaluation of at least 100 patients in the past 12 months, with 25 carrying a sleep disorder other than sleep-disordered breathing, OR successful completion of an accredited residency or clinical fellowship in the past 12 months.
  • Successful completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited fellowship program in sleep medicine.
  • Current subspecialty certification or active participation in the examination process leading to subspecialty certification in sleep medicine by the relevant ABMS board or completion of a CAQ by the relevant AOA board.
  • Current certification by the AASM is acceptable for applicants who became certified prior to 2007.
  • Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/subspecialty board of the American Board of Sleep Medicine or a foreign equivalent accepted by the board.
  • Applicants not board certified at the time of application but who have completed fellowship training within the last five years must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their fellowship training unless waived.

Responsibilities

  • Perform pediatric sleep studies in our Pediatric Sleep Lab for infants to 18.
  • Utilize a portable sleep unit for inpatient sleep studies.
  • Admit, evaluate, diagnose, and provide consultation and treatment to patients of all ages presenting with conditions or disorders of sleep.
  • Diagnose and treat sleep-related breathing disorders (such as obstructive sleep apnea), circadian rhythm disorders, insomnia, parasomnias, disorders of excessive sleepiness (e.g., narcolepsy), sleep-related movement disorders, and other conditions pertaining to the sleep-wake cycle.
  • Teach medical students and family medicine residents as clinical faculty.
