About The Position

Employed by Deaconess (Part-Time 0.5 FTE = 7/8 days a month). This role is part of a growing Pediatric service line with subspecialty coverage including Infectious Disease, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, and Endocrinology. The unit is fully staffed with a multidisciplinary team including pediatric subspecialists, respiratory therapists, certified pediatric nurses, dieticians, and therapists. The position involves providing critical care at Deaconess Gateway Hospital (5 PICU beds) and sedation services there, with intermittent coverage at Deaconess Midtown Hospital for pediatric trauma patients. The physician is expected to be available for critical care admissions and provide 8 hours of onsite care for Leapfrog standards when patients are in the PICU. The physician will also attend bimonthly Pediatric Department meetings and monthly Pediatrics Core Care Team meetings as a member of the Pediatric Center of Excellence.

Requirements

Board eligible or board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.
Available to work block scheduling.
Ability to work days and nights.
Ability to cover the pediatric sedation service.
Physician is expected to be available for critical care admission while working.
Physician's presence on site is not required for the entire 24-hour shift.

Pediatric Critical Care certification preferred.

Responsibilities
