About The Position

Bronson Children’s Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan is seeking a BE/BC Pediatric Endocrinologist to join their Physician-Led Medical Group and growing Pediatric teams. This role involves joining a newly established clinic in Kalamazoo, working collaboratively with an APP and other clinical staff. The physician will be responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing a wide spectrum of pediatric endocrine disorders, from common to complex cases. The position offers a collaborative relationship with other pediatric sub-specialists and primary care teams, a strong referral base, and a significant need within the community. It is primarily an outpatient-based position, Monday through Friday, with some inpatient consults. The hospital is employed, and call responsibilities will be shared with other providers, supported by a robust triage system. Bronson Children’s Hospital is a designated children’s hospital recognized by NACHRI and offers a full range of pediatric subspecialties, including Hematology/Oncology, GI, PICU, Surgery, Neurology, and Urology. It also provides support services such as a Level III Perinatal Center, a 34-bed Pediatric Unit, a 45-bed NICU, and an 8-bed PICU with a 4-bed step-down unit.

Requirements

  • BE/BC Pediatric Endocrinologist
  • Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship Trained
  • Current unrestricted or pending Licensure in the state of Michigan
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to providing compassionate and quality patient-centered care
  • Medical degree and 2 years of direct or intern experience required
  • Current Medical License in the state of Michigan
  • Current DEA and DPS Certificate of Registration
  • Must maintain all requirements for medical staff privileges
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills along with proper telephone etiquette
  • Performs in a tactful and professional manner

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, Treat, and Manage a wide variety of Pediatric Endocrine Disorders, from common to complex patients
  • Collaborate with other Pediatric Sub-Specialists and Primary Care teams
  • Provide medical patient care by interviewing, examining and treating of clinical patients in order to meet their medical needs
  • Educate patients on wellness, prevention and early detection by providing materials and resources to the patients and families
  • Determine which referrals are required based on examination and patient needs
  • Determine level of urgency of follow-up, referral/consultation appointments
  • Exercise final medical judgment in all issues of health care
  • Prescribe medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients
  • Order studies, test and ancillary services
  • Document all services in patient medical record
  • Review on a regular basis long term cases that require ongoing medical attention
  • Consult with Medical Director and other professionals on staff as needed regarding patient care, assessment, and education issues
  • Participate in process improvement, management, continuing education, and other patient care programs established by the hospital or clinic requirements
  • Oversee mid-level medical staff as assigned as well as nursing clinical staff
  • Assist in the resolution of complaints, requests and inquiries from patients
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient information according to federal guidelines and regulations
