About The Position

Geisinger is seeking Board Certified/Board Eligible Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) Physicians to join our expanding team at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center (GWV) in Wilkes-Barre, PA. This is a unique opportunity to practice high-acuity pediatric emergency care while contributing to system-wide innovation, education, and leadership. At Geisinger, you’ll work alongside a dedicated, multidisciplinary team of pediatric emergency professionals, including over 50 certified Pediatric Emergency Medicine nurses across the system, in-house Pediatric Hospitalists and Neonatologists available 24/7, Certified Child Life Specialists to support children and families during care, advanced practice providers (APPs) and emergency medicine physicians, and fellowship-trained PEM physicians who lead initiatives in education, quality improvement, and clinical innovation. You will have collaborative subspecialty support from nearly every pediatric medical and surgical specialty within our 90-bed children’s hospital. We foster a culture of team-based care, continuous learning, and shared decision-making. You’ll be part of a tight-knit, mission-driven group that values mentorship, professional development, and improving pediatric readiness across the region. The practice includes a 4-bed pediatric emergency zone at GWV designed for infants, children, and teens, with a 20% pediatric admission rate and an 8% critical care rate in the ED. This role offers a dual faculty appointment in Emergency Medicine & Pediatrics and 1,544 clinical hours/year for optimal work-life balance. Multi-site practice options are available in Wilkes-Barre and Danville, PA. Requirements

  • Board Certified/Board Eligible Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) Physician
  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine
  • Licensed Medical Doctor - State of Pennsylvania

Responsibilities

  • Practice high-acuity pediatric emergency care.
  • Contribute to system-wide innovation, education, and leadership.
  • Work alongside a dedicated, multidisciplinary team of pediatric emergency professionals.
  • Collaborate with pediatric hospitalists, neonatologists, child life specialists, APPs, and emergency medicine physicians.

  • Provide medical education for EM, Pediatric, and Med-Peds residents, and medical students.
