About The Position

The University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and OU Health are seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and academically driven Palliative Medicine clinician to join a growing interdisciplinary team. This Clinical Assistant Professor role focuses on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals with serious and complex illnesses while supporting their families across inpatient and outpatient settings. The selected candidate will contribute to OU Health’s mission of advancing health equity, education, and evidence-based care, while actively participating in academic, clinical, and quality improvement initiatives within a leading academic medical center.

Requirements

  • MD or DO with eligibility for medical licensure in the state of Oklahoma
  • Board certification or board eligibility in Hospice and Palliative Medicine
  • Demonstrated commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary settings

Nice To Haves

  • Academic experience in teaching, research, or scholarly activity
  • Experience in inpatient consultation services and/or outpatient palliative care
  • Interest in program development, innovation, or health equity initiatives

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive palliative care consultations in inpatient and outpatient settings at OU Health
  • Conduct symptom management, goals-of-care discussions, and advance care planning
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, social workers, chaplains, and case managers
  • Support transitions of care and coordinate with hospice and community-based services
  • Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows within the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine
  • Participate in clinical teaching rounds, case conferences, and interdisciplinary education
  • Contribute to curriculum development in palliative and serious illness care
  • Engage in quality improvement projects and program development
  • Participate in research and scholarly activities aligned with palliative medicine
  • Support institutional initiatives related to patient experience, ethical care, and serious illness communication
