Veterans Health Administration•Stockton, CA

About The Position

The Primary Care Provider is a practicing physician responsible for the overall management of patients enrolled for healthcare services through the Northern California VA Health Care System (NCHCS). The physician coordinates care for an assigned outpatient panel and evaluates and treats acute and chronic health problems in scheduled and unscheduled clinic patients. The role includes administrative tasks associated with clinic operations and work in a team with physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and support staff. The physician also screens patients for possible hospitalization, educates patients and families, and may serve as a clinic preceptor for residents. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. It requires a medical degree, a current unrestricted U.S. medical license, and qualifying residency training. Preferred qualifications include board certification or eligibility in internal medicine or family medicine, relevant primary care experience, and a DEA license.
