The Orthopedic Sports Medicine Surgeon provides care and treatment for athletes and physically active individuals, helping patients return to sport while minimizing injury risk. The role brings advanced expertise in musculoskeletal health and works with a multidisciplinary team that includes physicians, physical therapists, athletic trainers, and rehabilitation specialists to support recovery, optimize treatment, and develop injury-prevention strategies. The surgeon diagnoses and treats musculoskeletal injuries, including ligament tears, tendon injuries, dislocations, joint instability, and cartilage damage. Surgical techniques may include arthroscopic surgery, ligament reconstruction, cartilage restoration, tendon repair, minimally invasive procedures, and, at times, osseous realignment for joint preservation rather than joint replacement. The role also contributes to rehabilitation strategies, non-surgical management, and sports performance optimization. This is a 1.0 FTE position with a Monday–Friday day schedule and participation in the provider group’s on-call rotation.
