About The Position

University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center is seeking an experienced Board-Certified General Orthopedic Surgeon to join their dedicated team. This is a full-time, hospital-employed position focused on delivering high-quality, patient-centered orthopedic care to the Charles County community. The ideal candidate will be a skilled, collaborative surgeon passionate about community care and helping grow a sustainable, high-functioning orthopedic service line within a supportive hospital environment.

Requirements

Possesses and maintains current license to practice medicine in the State of Maryland required.
Possesses and maintains current Board Certification within practicing specialty required.
Possesses and maintains current DEA or similar Narcotics and Controlled Substances Certification required.
Possesses and maintains, if applicable, appropriate clinical privileges at a minimum of one UMMS affiliated acute care facility.
Demonstrates meeting minimum CME requirements for licensure and board certification.
Demonstrates appropriate qualifications and experience to perform the duties required of this position.
2 plus years of experience as an Orthopedic MD.
Highly effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to communicate effectively with all levels hospital staff, patients, visitors, and levels of staff.

Responsibilities

Provide high-quality, efficient, cost-effective, and compassionate care to assigned patients
Maintain complete and timely documentation of all patient services in accordance with established standards
Participate in quality assurance and improvement programs
Supervise administrative responsibilities of non-physician team members
Ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures, including HR, billing, coding, and training standards
Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory guidelines (OSHA, CLIA, labor laws, etc.)
Collaborate on budget planning and review practice expenditures
Uphold the written goals and objectives of UM Charles Regional
Promote a courteous, respectful atmosphere and enhance patient satisfaction and hospital reputation
Represent the practice in the community through speaking engagements, volunteerism, and outreach efforts
Work cooperatively with hospital administration to adapt scheduling or practice style as needed to improve patient access and satisfaction
Engage in disease management programs and population health efforts to drive better outcomes
