About The Position

Sanford Health – Bemidji, Minnesota is seeking a Board Eligible / Board Certified General Orthopedic Surgeon to join a collegial, well established orthopedic practice serving a strong regional referral base. This role offers the option for a 4-day work week and includes 10 ORs with block time, with two OR days per week. The call schedule is 1:4. The practice has two on-site X-ray suites within the orthopedic building, a bone health program, and full-service physical and occupational therapy support. The hospital is a 118-bed facility with a 14-bed ICU and serves as a Level III trauma center, covering a service population of 142,000.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • An applicant who has just completed a residency or Fellowship shall provide his/her residency or Fellowship log.
  • An applicant who is not applying directly out of a residency shall provide a quality profile from hospital(s) where he/she currently has privileges showing his/her clinical activity for the past 24 months, including numbers of procedures performed morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications.
  • The applicant must be able to demonstrate at least 200 orthopedic surgery procedures in the last 24 months.
  • If a quality profile is not available from the hospital(s) where the applicant currently has privileges, documentation of the applicant’s hospital-based clinical activity for the past 24 months is required.
  • Successful completion of a hospital affiliated orthopedic surgical residency program or a clinical Fellowship of at least five years’ duration accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada in the residency.
  • Certification by the appropriate specialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
  • For those applicants that are not board certified at the time of application, but who have completed their residency training within the last five years; must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their residency training unless appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.
