About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is seeking a BE/BC Ophthalmologist who has completed a Retina fellowship to join an established Ophthalmology team at Marshfield Medical Center in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. The full-scope department offers subspecialty care, including glaucoma and neuro-ophthalmology. This is a busy practice with the potential for unlimited growth and an excellent referral base, supported by dedicated ancillary and skilled support staff, and a full complement of diagnostic equipment in a collegial environment. Physicians are encouraged to participate in medical education and research to further the organization's strong foundation in patient care, research, and education.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • Completed a Retina fellowship.
  • Successful completion of a hospital affiliated Ophthalmology residency program accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/ subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
  • Applicants not board certified at the time of application but who have completed residency training within the last five years must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their residency training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.
  • Demonstrate at least 50 Ophthalmology procedures in the last 12 months (either via residency log, quality profile, or documentation of clinical setting activity).

Responsibilities

  • Perform history and physical examination.
  • Admit patients (if applicable to setting).
  • Evaluate, diagnose, consult, and provide nonsurgical and surgical procedures on patients of all ages with ocular, and visual disorders, including those of the eye and its component structures, the eyelids, the orbit and the visual pathways.
